Danish renewable energy company Vestas secured a contract with
Turkish energy company Elfa Electric Production to supply 26 megawatts
for a wind farm to be located in Balikesir in eastern Turkey, the
company announced on Wednesday.
Vestas said the contract comprises
the supply and installation of the wind turbines, along with a 10-year
service agreement to optimize uptime, performance, and energy
production.
The turbines will be delivered in the third quarter of 2016, while commissioning is expected in the fourth quarter of the year.
"Vestas
continues to drive down the cost of energy, and this project with Elfa
Electric Production is no different with its 126-meter rotor diameter
that enables greater wind capture and thus higher annual energy
production," said Olcayto Yigit, general manager of Vestas Turkey.
The
Danish company has been operational in Turkey since 1984 and from then
onwards has delivered around 1.2 gigawatts of wind power capacity in the
country.
Vestas established its Turkish office in Turkey's Istanbul in January 2008.
