Finland's
electricity production with renewable energy sources amounted 45 percent out of
its total electricity production in 2016, Statistics Finland announced Tuesday.
The
authority said that total electricity production amounted to 66.2
terawatt-hours in 2016 - the same level as 2015.
Electricity
production from renewable energy sources remained similar to 2015, at 29.6
terawatt-hours, or 45 percent of total electricity production.
In
turn, total electricity consumption rose by three percent from the year before
and amounted to 85.2 terawatt-hours.
The
country covered 78 percent of its electricity production domestically and 22
percent through net imports from other Nordic countries, Russia and Estonia.
Furthermore,
net electricity imports increased by 16 percent in comparison to the year
before.
