Turkey's natural gas imports increased by 20.12 percent to 35.98 billion cubic meters in the first eight months of 2017 compared to the same period of last year, Natural Gas Distribution Companies Association (GAZBIR) announced on Thursday

Turkey's natural gas imports increased by 20.12 percent to 35.98 billion cubic meters in the first eight months of 2017 compared to the same period of last year, Natural Gas Distribution Companies Association (GAZBIR) announced on Thursday.

According to GAZBIR's latest report, Turkey's natural gas household consumption increased by 26.5 percent over the same period.

Gas used for electricity production increased by 15.5 percent, but decreased by 6 percent for industrial consumption.

Turkey's gas consumption between January and August increased 16.76 percent to 35.09 billion cubic meters compared to the last year's 30.06 billion cubic meters.

Over the same period, Turkey's number one gas exporting country was Russia followed by Iran and Azerbaijan.
