French engineering group Alstom SA (1022047.FR) has been chosen to equip the two European pressurized-water reactors (EPRs) sold by French nuclear giant Areva (CEI.FR) to China, French weekly magazines Challenges reports Thursday without citing sources.

Areva announced the EUR8 billion deal to supply two EPRs to China's Guandong Nuclear Power Company in November 2007, during French President Nicolas Sarkozy's state visit.

Alstom said it has submitted a bid to equip the two EPRs and is waiting for the outcome. Areva wasn't immediately available to comment.
