Russian Deputy PM Seeks End To Gazprom Export Monopoly-Report

MOSCOW (Dow Jones)--Russia's top energy official, Deputy Prime Minister, Igor Sechin supports legislation that would end OAO Gazprom's (GAZP.RS) monopoly on the export of the country's, business daily Vedomosti reported Thursday citing a senior official at the Federal Anti-Monopoly Service.

MOSCOW (Dow Jones)--Russia's top energy official, Deputy Prime Minister, Igor Sechin supports legislation that would end OAO Gazprom's (GAZP.RS) monopoly on the export of the country's, business daily Vedomosti reported Thursday citing a senior official at the Federal Anti-Monopoly Service.

The paper reports that the legislation, which has been proposed by the Federal Anti-Monopoly Service, has been supported by the Economy Ministry and Customs Service but doesn't have the full support of the Energy Ministry.

Vedomosti reports that the price of gas in Europe is five times higher than the price at which Russian gas producers can sell it on the domestic market
