French utility company GdF Suez (GSZ.FR) is in talks with Russian gas giant Gazprom (GAZP.RS) on buying liquified natural gas, or LNG, from the Shtokman gas field, the Interfax news agency reported Friday citing GdF Suez' Deputy Chief Executive Jean-Marie Dauger.

"We want to work with Gazprom on LNG," said Dauger without elaborating.

GdF Suez has regasification terminals in North and South America, Europe and Asia.

Gazprom may also take a 27% stake in the regasification terminal Rabaska in Canada, GdF Suez' CEO Jean-Francois Cirelli said Friday.
