Azerbaijan produced 3.786 million tons of crude oil in February, up 4.4% from January, Azerbaijan's state statistics agency said Tuesday.

That totals a daily average of 991,121 barrels for the month, up 6.3% from January.

The BP PLC (BP)-led consortium that operates Azerbaijan's Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli block in the Caspian Sea produced 3.1 million tons for the month, up 6.9% from January.

State oil company Socar produced 686,740 tons in the month, 5.7% lower than in January.

Last year, Azerbaijan produced 44.5 million tons of crude oil, or 893,658 barrels a day.

Azeri officials forecast 2009 production to total 50 million tons.
