Italian energy company Eni SpA (E) said Tuesday it has begun natural gas production at the offshore Egyptian North Bardawil field, adding it estimates a maximum daily output of about 17,000 barrels of oil equivalent.

In a statement, Eni said its share of the production is forecast around 6,000 BOE a day.

Eni's operated daily production last year reached 522,000 BOE of which 240,000 BOE is its equity output.
