Austrian oil and gas company OMV AG (OMV.VI) is to invest EUR600 million on building its first combined-cycle power plant in Turkey, the company said Friday.
Austrian oil and gas company OMV AG (OMV.VI) is to invest EUR600 million on building its first combined-cycle power plant in Turkey, the company said Friday.

The 870 megawatt plant will be located in Terme,
Samsun province, and will commence operations in 2012. OMV said the plant will cover 3% of Turkey 's electricity needs.

"Starting with this project, OMV is aiming to demonstrate that it is a trustworthy and innovative partner in Turkey in the coming years," Korkut Oeztuerkmen, a manager at OMV's Turkish subsidiary Gaz ve Enerji Ltd., said in a statement, adding that the plant will enhance the security of Turkey's electrical power supply.
