EDF Energy, the U.K. arm of Electricite de France SA (EDF.FR), said Thursday it will raise its U.K. retail or residential electricity and natural gas prices from Nov. 10, becoming the last of the big six U.K. retail energy suppliers to raise its rates.

EDF Energy said it will raise its residential electricity prices by 4.5% on average, in line with inflation, according to the company.

EDF Energy also said it will raise its residential natural gas prices by 15.4%, lower than all the other major suppliers, the company said.

"We have absorbed rising wholesale energy, network and other costs as long as possible but must reluctantly now pass some of these through to consumers," said Vincent de Rivaz, chief executive of EDF Energy.
