No agreement on
Ukraine's gas debt to Russia has been reached yet, chief executive of
the gas giant OAO Gazprom (GAZP.RS) Alexei Miller said in a statement
Wednesday.
That contradicts Tuesday's statement from
Ukraine's state gas company Naftogaz which said it had reached a
preliminary agreement with Gazprom to postpone payments for gas
supplies in the final three months of 2013 until spring 2014. It
would have been the first public sign of Russian financial support
since Ukraine's president backed out of the European Union trade
deal.
Mr. Miller also said that talks regarding
Ukraine's $2.2 billion debt for gas supplies from Russia are ongoing.
