Greek metals, energy and engineering group Mytilineos said yesterday it has bought four wind parks in Evia, central Greece, for 28 million euros as part of plans to develop its renewable energy portfolio.

Mytilineos said the deal involves the acquisition of wind parks from Denmark’s Dong Energy, producing 18 megawatts of power and bringing the capacity of its total renewable energy portfolio to 45 MW.

“This acquisition is one more step toward the creation of a sizable renewable and thermal asset portfolio in the newly liberalized Greek and regional markets,” said Evangelos Mytilineos, CEO of the Mytilineos Group, in a statement.

Mytilineos, whose shares are listed on the Athens bourse, will transfer the assets to its subsidiary Endesa Hellas.

Endesa Hellas is a joint venture between Endesa Europa (50.01 percent) and Mytilineos Holdings (49.99 percent) and aims to become the largest independent power operator in Greece.
