The European Union has taken enough steps to make it through the winter, even in the case of another gas crisis disrupting supplies, Energy Commissioner Andris Piebalgs said Thursday.
"We have taken enough measures, together with the industry, to get us through this winter, if the worst happens," Piebalgs said during a press conference.
The commission is afraid that renewed friction between Ukraine and Russia over gas payments could lead to a repeat of last January's crisis, when a price dispute between the two countries disrupted supplies to Europe for weeks.
