Spanish electricity company Iberdrola SA (IBE.MC) is studying participation in the construction of a nuclear power plant in the Russian exclave of Kalingrad, a company press official said Tuesday.
The possible project comes after Iberdrola signed a cooperation agreement in March with Russia's Inter Rao EES OAO (IRAO.RS). Inter RAO is the import-export arm of former monopoly Unified Energy System of Russia (EESR.RS).
The studies are at a very preliminary phase, the Iberdrola official stressed, adding that he couldn't say what size of reactor was being planned.
