German wind turbine manufacturer REpower AG Systems AG (RPW.XE) said Friday it has won a contract to supply, install and service onshore wind turbines for EDF Energy Renewables' first U.K. wind farm.
REpower is supplying EDF Energy Renewables, part of French utility Electricite de France SA (EDF.FR), with 13 wind turbines for the 26-megawatt Burnfoot Hill wind farm in Scotland.
"Burnfoot Hill is an important win for REpower as it is the first onshore project for EDF Energy Renewables in the U.K.," said REpower U.K. Managing Director Rick Eggleston.
Engineers are expected to start work on the site in summer 2010 with the turbines scheduled to be operational before the end of the year.
REpower is the third-largest supplier of wind turbines in the U.K.
