Natural gas futures fall amid robust supplies and a mild weather
outlook. High levels of natural gas storage, which are on pace to reach
record levels by fall, are weighing on prices.
"With not much heat left
to eat away at storage in the near term, you are seeing pressure on the
front month," says Lisa Zembrodt, a commodity analyst with Summit
Energy.
Hot weather can spur demand for natural gas-fired power to cool
homes and businesses and help draw down storage levels - which stand at
3.204 trillion cubic feet, 21% higher than a year ago. Nymex September
gas futures trade -4c, or 1.36%, at $2.905/MMBtu.
