Nippon Oil Corp. (5001.TO) and Inpex Corp. (1605.TO) said Wednesday they haven't yet reached an accord on the development of Iraq's Nasiriyah oil field.
The Japanese natural resources developers said in separate statements they have made progress in recent talks with Iraq on their possible participation in the development of the oil field in southern Iraq, but they don't necessarily expect to reach a final agreement in the near future.
The statements come after Japanese media reported that the two sides had reached a basic accord and will soon come to a final agreement.
