Iran is willing to allow gas to flow through its pipelines from Turkmenistan to both Iraq and the United Arab Emirates, an Iranian oil official said over the weekend, Mehr News Agency reports.

"If Turkmenistan wants to export its gas to both Iraq and the U.A.E. and other regional countries, Iran is willing to transit the gas since we have a large pipeline capacity," Reza Almasi, managing director of Iran Oil Transport Co. is quoted as saying.

Almasi also said that Iran is likely to connect its nationwide high pressure gas pipeline network to Iraq, Pakistan and Kuwait.

Iran's nationwide gas network is now connected to six neighboring countries, Mehr News quotes Almasi as saying.

"Iran is now exporting gas to Turkey and Armenia, importing gas from Turkmenistan and swapping gas to Nakhchivan through the Republic of Azerbaijan," he said.
