The European Union hasn't received any new proposal from Iran regarding fresh talks with the world's top powers over its nuclear program, foreign policy chief Javier Solana said Wednesday.

"I learned recently that [Iran's top nuclear negotiator Saeed] Jalili had made an announcement on a document sent to us," Solana told reporters in Cairo.

"We haven't received it and I can't judge it. If the document is presented, we will review it and be happy to discuss it."

Jalili said Tuesday the country had updated its package of proposals linked to its atomic program and was prepared for fresh talks.

"The Islamic republic's package of proposals is updated and ready, and will be presented [to world powers]," said Jalili, who is also the secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council.

The White House said Tuesday it had received no official notification from Iran.

Political directors from the U.N. Security Council's five permanent members - the U.S., China, Russia, the U.K. and France - plus Germany, were to meet in Germany Wednesday for talks on Iran's nuclear program, amid growing pressure for harsher sanctions against the Islamic republic.
