OPEC's secretary general said Thursday it's Russia's turn to come visit him in Vienna, and that he wasn't encouraged by Russia's lack of a cut in oil production.
The statement comes after Russian press reports indicate that OPEC had been invited to Russia later this year.
"I went to Russia last year and I am expecting them to come here," he said. "If they want to come here they are welcome," Abdalla Salem El-Badri, secretary general of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, told reporters. "We have told them we are really open to cooperate with" Russia.
"We cannot go to Russia every year to talk to them," he added.
He also said Russia has been producing more oil recently, and "we have not seen anything materialize" from talks to coordinate production cuts, so "it's not encouraging."
