French utility Electricite de France's (EDF.FR) chairman and chief executive, Pierre Gadonneix, said Wednesday the company is in talks about joining the South Stream gas pipeline project, led by Russian state-controlled gas giant OAO Gazprom(GAZP.RS).
Edf has been in "discussions for some time," Gadonneix told French lawmakers. The South Stream pipeline would bring natural gas to Europe from Russia.
The Russian daily Kommersant reported Tuesday that Edf may take a stake in the project.
