Romanian state-owned hydropower generator Hidroelectrica
could invest some EUR 18 million in the next years to set up wind turbines on
its hydropower plants along the river Siret, company operational director Dragos
Zachia said Thursday.
“The first turbine could be installed as soon as next year,”
Zachia said. The company operates five hydropower plants on Siret.
Furthermore, according to Zachia, Hidroelectrica will complete early 2011 the
upgrade of its Ciunget Lotru plant, which has a capacity of 510 MW. The
operation entailed an investment of up to EUR 84 million.
