Athens-based Energean Oil & Gas has successfully completed and brought online its PA-35 production well on the Prinos field in Greece.

The well, drilled to a total depth of 2975 metres by jack-up GSP Saturn, was the first probe in the company’s Prinos 5000 drilling programme aimed at boosting production from the Prinos licence to 5000 barrels of oil equivalent per day this year.

Several oil-bearing intervals were identified by the well in the B and C reservoirs, found at depths of 2859 metres and 2909 metres, respectively.

The PA-35 well was placed on production at a stabilised rate of 1000 barrels per day, bringing Energean’s output up to 3000 boepd.

“The production of the first well has met our expectations, and will hopefully be a trend that continues as we complete the rest of our programme to boost production and secure the sustainable growth of our company,” said Energean managing director Mathios Rigas.

The next step in the programme will be the recompletion of the Epsilon well that has already been started.
