French state-owned nuclear giant Areva SA (CEI.FR) Monday said it has
received a request for support from Japanese operator Tokyo Electric Power Co. (9501.TO)
which has been battling to avoid radiation leaks at its earthquake- and
tsunami-hit Fukushima Daiichi plant for over two weeks.
Areva, French utility Electricite de France SA (EDF.FR) and the government's
nuclear agency Commissariat de l'Energie Atomique have been contacted by the
Japanese operator and are examining different options to help out at
Fukushima
, a
spokeswoman told Dow Jones Newswires.
The
spokeswoman wasn't able to provide any details.
