While emissions rose modestly compared with a year-earlier, which was burdened
by the global recession, the increase was significantly lower than that in
2008, the agency said.
No specific details were given for 2009 emissions.
The agency said utilities' 2010 CO2 emissions were up 5% to 356 million tons,
and steel industry emissions were up 26% to 6.5 million tons, which is
nevertheless 2 million tons lower than in 2008.
