Neither BP PLC (BP) nor OAO Rosneft (ROSN.RS) have applied to Russia's anti-trust body for clearance of a possibly acquisition of a stake in Anglo-Russian oil joint venture TNK-BP Ltd., the head of the Federal Anti-Monopoly Service, or FAS, Igor Artemyev said Thursday.

"No applications have been filed yet, but such a deal would need our examination," Artemyev said.

Observers speculate that BP and Rosneft may make a joint offer to buy out BP's Russian partners in TNK-BP. The partners--a consortium of Soviet-born businessmen known as Alfa-Access-Renova--have blocked a planned alliance between BP and Rosneft, saying it violates the TNK-BP shareholder agreement.
