FYR Macedonian Power Plants (ELEM) director Vlatko Cingovski expects hydro power plant "Sv.Petka" to be put into use by the year-end.

The hydro plant, which construction costs about EUR 70 million, will have an installed power of 36,4mW and annual output of 66gWh of electricity.

"The most difficult part of the dam construction is already behind us and we expect it to be operational by the end of the year. We hope construction of hydro plants Boskov Most and Lukovo Pole, which are ELEM's priority projects, will begin soon", said Cingovski.

"Sv.Petka" (Matka 2) is the missing link for optimal use of river Treska hydropotential, located between plants "Kozjak" and "Matka".

Slovenian company "Riko" is the hydro plant contractor, whereas "Energoprojekt" from Belgrade is the planner. Construction companies "Granit" and "Beton" are the dam and machine building sub-contractors respectively.
