AMEC PLC (AMEC.LN), the international engineering and project management company, has been awarded a $600 million contract by BP PLC (BP) to work on the oil major's projects in Azerbaijan, BP said Tuesday.

MAIN FACTS:

-The contract will cover the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli and Shah Deniz offshore facilities and ACG, Shah Deniz, Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan and South Caucasus Pipeline onshore facilities at the Sangachal Terminal as well as the Supply Base at Baku Deepwater Jackets Factory.

-The contract is for five years with two possible four-year extensions.

-The work will be carried out in
Baku with involvement of the local company Azfen.

-AMEC shares at 1323 GMT up 1.0 pence, or 0.1%, at 1201 pence.
