U.S. energy firm Chevron has won a tender to carry out shale gas exploration work at a potentially huge field in northeast Bulgaria, Economy and Energy Minister Traicho Traikov said on Saturday.
Chevron won the tender at the Novi Pazar field with a 30 million euro bid, Traikov told reporters. The other bidder was Canada's BNK Petroleum reports Reuters. Traikov said initial estimates made by the bidders, based on similar rock formations elsewhere, were for potential of between 300 billion and 1 trillion cubic meters of shale gas
