China
released draft regulations Wednesday under which electric, fuel-cell and
plug-in hyrbrid vehicles will be exempt from the country's vehicle and vessel
tax from Jan. 1, according to a statement on a Chinese government website.
The tax for other types of hybrid vehicles will be halved, according to the
statement, which was attributed to the Legislative Affairs Office of China's
State Council. It didn't specify the current tax level for vehicles.
China
introduced the vehicle and vessel tax, which owners pay each year, in 2007.
China
's
government will accept public feedback on the regulations until July 14, a
standard practice in
China
before new rules become official.
