Russian state gas firm OAO Gazprom (GAZP.RS) is in talks with European utilities to operate power plants in the region, after the European Union has called for new generating capacity to replace nuclear power, the company's Deputy Chief Executive Alexander Medvedev said Monday.
Russian state gas firm OAO Gazprom (GAZP.RS) is in talks with European utilities to operate power plants in the region, after the European Union has called for new generating capacity to replace nuclear power, the company's Deputy Chief Executive Alexander Medvedev said Monday.

"We want to operate not only as a supplier but also an operator in the electricity sector," Medvedev said.

By the end of the year, the company will priority electricity projects in Europe , he said.
