Swiss nuclear plant Muehleberg will go offline around five weeks earlier than planned, starting Thursday, the plant's operator BKW FMB Energie AG (BKWN.EB) said Wednesday.
The early shutdown is due to the introduction of new security measures to ensure the plant is running effectively even in the case of a heavy flood. The precautions are due to the recent disaster at the Fukushima plant in Japan, which was hit by a tsunami.
BKW FMB said that the Muehleberg plant will go online in September after the annual revision.
