China, North Korea To Boost Renewable Energy Cooperation

China and North Korea signed an agreement Wednesday to share their experience and beef up cooperation in exploring and utilizing renewable energy, state-run Xinhua News Agency reported Thursday.
China and North Korea signed an agreement Wednesday to share their experience and beef up cooperation in exploring and utilizing renewable energy, state-run Xinhua News Agency reported Thursday.

The agreement was made during a meeting between senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official Zhou Yongkang and a delegation from the Korean Workers Party, led by Thae Jong Su, an alternate member of the KWP's Political Bureau and member of the Secretariat, Xinhua said.

The main purpose of the trip is to learn from
China 's experience in developing geothermal resources, as specified by the DPRK's top leader, Kim Jong Il, Xinhua reported, citing Thae.

Zhou, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau, said
China would like to enhance its exchanges with the DPRK in the field in order to jointly improve their capability to develop and utilize renewable energy, according to Xinhua.
