Germany has made 2.77 million barrels of crude oil and products available to the market under the International Energy Agency's plan to release oil from strategic reserves, 34% less than initially announced, the IEA said Monday.

Germany has released 1.62 million barrels of crude oil, 650,000 barrels of diesel and 500,000 barrels of gasoline, the IEA said. Its preliminary breakdown, published June 27, showed Germany would release 2.1 million barrels of crude and the same amount of products, more than any other European country.

The IEA also said Monday the total amount of oil released by its 12 member countries would be 59.83 million barrels, down from 60.62 million barrels announced late June.

Under the IEA's plan, part of 12 countries' strategic supply of oil stocks has been released to offset the loss of
Libya 's supplies due to civil unrest in the country.
