state energy company Socar intends to buy a stake in Greek natural gas monopoly
DEPA SA, the company's President Rovnaq Abdullayev said Friday.
On Thursday, Abdullayev met with the head of DEPA.
"We are ready to participate in the privatization of DEPA,"
Abdullayev said after talks with DEPA, without specifying the size of the stake
Socar would buy.
DEPA's sale is part of a plan disclosed earlier this year by the Greek
government to raise some EUR50 billion from the privatization of public assets.
The Greek government holds a 65% stake in DEPA.
Azerbaijan
currently delivers around 700 million cubic meters of natural gas to
Greece
a
year.
