The former chairman of Libya's National Oil Company and de-facto oil minister, Shokri Ghanem, should not have a post in any new regime that could emerge if Col. Moammar Gadhafi is defeated, said a spokesman for the Libyan rebels Friday.
The former chairman of Libya 's National Oil Company and de-facto oil minister, Shokri Ghanem, should not have a post in any new regime that could emerge if Col. Moammar Gadhafi is defeated, said a spokesman for the Libyan rebels Friday.

"After his late defection, he shouldn't take any post in the new free
Libya ," said the London-based spokesman for the rebels' Benghazi-based Transitional National Council, Guma el-Gamaty, on his Twitter feed.

Ghanem has kept a low profile since he defected from the Gadhafi regime in May. In meetings in Doha this week, Qatari officials sought advice from Ghanem and other high-profile defector Moussa Koussa, the former foreign minister, about how to deal with Gadhafi and end the stalemate, people familiar with the matter told the Wall St Journal.
