The European Commission Monday cleared Gaz de France's (1020848.FR) unit Cofathec Servizi to buy assets of Italian utility Edison SpA (EDN.MI).
Cofathec will acquire seven power plants in Italy from Milan-based Edison, for a total of EUR226 million, the companies have said.
The transaction was cleared under the commission's simplified procedure. This clears deals automatically after one month if no third party lodges an objection.
