Russia's natural gas monopoly OAO Gazprom (GAZP.RS) and Ukraine's national gas company Naftogaz signed late Monday a technical agreement on gas delivery and transit, Naftogaz said Tuesday.

The technical agreement is a part of the wider deal between the companies on gas deliveries and transit for the period between 2009 and 2019, and had remained unsigned since January, when Gazprom and Naftogaz finally agreed on the gas issue.

The price spat between Russia and Ukraine led to Gazprom switching off gas supply to Ukraine and subsequently to Eastern and Central Europe for almost three weeks in January.

The agreement defines technical conditions of the gas delivery, its characteristics, volumes and directions of delivery, including entrance and exit points in Ukraine.

Ukraine had said repeatedly that the absence of the technical agreement posed a risk to the implementation of the gas contracts, including transit agreements.

Naftogaz also said that by April 6 it had paid Gazprom in full for gas delivered in March.
