South Korea has signed a preliminary agreement to explore five oil and gas blocks in Uzbekistan, the presidential office said Monday.

The deals were reached during South Korean President Lee Myung-bak's visit to the country, the office said in a statement.

Also during the visit, the two countries reached cooperation agreements on resource development as well as investment in the infrastructure and IT segments, it said.
