French nuclear group Areva SA (CEI.FR) late Wednesday reiterated that work is proceeding normally at a site in Finland to build a new reactor, following press reports of problems there.

"Inaccurate information" has appeared in the media following a press release from the Finnish Safety Authority on imperfections in the welding of the main coolant lines for the Olkiluoto 3 reactor, Areva said in a statement.

"Presently, works are proceeding normally on the OL3 site," Areva said.

Areva noted "slight imperfections" on the surface of components for the site called coolant lines, and said it is making use of "all means" to provide the Finnish authority with the information requested.

"The welding in question and the quality control have been carried out by an Areva subcontractor in France where the coolant lines are currently located," the company also said.

The lines will be delivered once the matter is resolved, Areva said.
