China's State Grid Corp. has finalized a long-term deal with Russia for a gradually increasing supply of electricity to a peak level of 60 billion kilowatt-hours from 2016, the China Daily reported Wednesday, citing unnamed State Grid officials.

Under the terms of the deal, Russia will supply 3.6 billion-4.3 billion kilowatt-hours of power to China from 2008 to 2010 and 18 billion kilowatt-hours from 2010 to 2015, the newspaper said.

Feasibility studies for some planned transmission lines are being carried out by Chinese companies cooperating with foreign power giants, including Areva SA (CEI.FR), it said.
