Russian gas export monopoly OAO Gazprom (GAZP.RS) sees no reason to change the terms of its contract with Ukraine signed in January, the company's Deputy Chief Executive Alexander Medvedev said Wednesday.

"I cannot see any grounds for reviewing the pricing and transit conditions," Medvedev said.

The current contract signed in January ended a dispute between Moscow and Kiev over pricing, which saw exports to Europe through Ukraine disrupted for almost three weeks.

Ukraine's President Viktor Yushchenko has called for the contract to be reviewed, saying it is too expensive for his country and the signing by his Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko was politically motivated.

Gazprom has warned European Union officials about the risks related to a possible breach of contract by Ukraine's Naftogaz. Earlier this month, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin warned Russian gas supplies to Europe across Ukraine could come to a "full stop" if Kiev was unable to pay its bills on time.

Gazprom supplies a quarter of Europe's gas needs, of which 80% is shipped through Ukraine.
