Russian state-owned gas firm OAO Gazprom (GAZP.RS) is considering taking part in the auction that will privatize Greek gas company DEPA, Gazprom said Friday.

Gazprom said it may make a bid with its Greek gas infrastructure joint venture Prometey Gaz.

Earlier this month, Gazprom said it had held meetings with Greek senior government officials to discuss the "prospects" of the privatization of DEPA and Greece's natural gas grid operator, DESFA.

The privatization of DEPA and DESFA are part of the Greek government's plans to raise EUR50 billion from the sale of state assets over coming years.
