The recent slump in Iranian oil exports could prove short-lived, as Asian countries find ways to circumvent Western sanctions, which led to a drop in exports to below 1 million barrels a day in August, according to some estimates, says the Centre for Global Economic Studies.
The think tank pegs Iranian crude production at little more than 2.5 million barrels a day in July and August, down around 1 million barrels a day from the start of the year. But it adds that production in August did inch higher thanks to a slight rebound in exports, as Asian buyers implemented new insurance schemes to allow them to continue to import oil from Iran .
