Europe 's natural gas consumption is estimated to fall between 5% and 6% this year compared with 2011, the chief executive of Eni SpA (E), Italy 's biggest energy company by market value, said Monday.

This year's gas consumption "is going very badly," Paolo Scaroni said at a conference in Milan .

Eni is the biggest corporate buyer of Russian gas and one of Europe 's biggest wholesale gas sellers.
