Russia's federal anti-monopoly service has approved state oil giant OAO Rosneft's (ROSN.RS) acquisition of diamond miner Alrosa Co Ltd.'s (ROSA.RS) gas assets, Russian news agencies reported Tuesday.

Rosneft, the world's largest listed crude-oil producer, has said it is aiming to increase gas production and recently bought out its partner in gas company Itera Oil and Gas.

Rosneft will buy Alrosa's gas assets via its TNK-BP Holding subsidiary, Prime and Interfax news agencies reported.
